Open a plate_design.yaml that this page
wrote earlier, or one you hand-wrote in the same format. The whole page fills in, painted
wells included, and you edit it here instead of in a text editor. Nothing is written back
to the file you open.
Write the rows a condition covers: A-D, A, or A,C,E.
Add a second layer when two things vary down the plate.
Write the columns a condition covers: 1-3, 5, or 1,4,7.
Pick a brush, then click or drag across the plate. Click a row
letter or a column number to do the whole row or column. Painted wells beat
the blocks, and they are written into override: in the design file.
This page cannot write into a folder on your computer, so it hands the design over as downloads.
The design .yaml carries the whole layout, the painted wells and the prep numbers, so it is the file to keep with the experiment, and it is what you open again at the top of this page. A companion script can turn that same .yaml into a printable plate map, an Excel layout and a worklist file; that script is not included with this page, so the .yaml and the .csv here are the two files you get.
